106 GTi 0-60

Tested on private land, slight up hill gradient. Does it in 7seconds dead… Could have done a quicker time with a better start on flatter land

High lift cam, with longer stroke on the cam, the inlet/exhaust valves stay open that little bit longer allowing more fuel/air mix in and exh gasses out. Timed properly this will give greater bhp thus more torque than any airfilter or exhaust could manage.

    Nice!
I am picking my gti up this morning :-)
I was also planning a decat and general air mods
I had an astra Vxr before and was running 280bhp and 320 torque the heat that produced in exhaust I would lose power if I decatted, instead I had a performance cat, but in a gti, like someone else mentioned a decat will only GAIN more performance
Top car the gti, and there cheap as chips these days! Handle very well too!

@urbex2007 I hear this bullshit argument about exhaust temperature so often… It may matter in a high performance high power engine, but in something small like a 106 GTI that produces about 120BHP it dosen’t matter, the temperature difference will be marginal, and while removing the cat may make the engine a bit less stable at low revs, it will always give higher top end power. You have a smart car as your Picture, stop talking.

@urbex2007 You are such a fucking tool , im guessing your a no it all 16 year old learning car mechanics in college

  5. reecemcf says:

@urbex2007 If your so fucking clever, name me something I could have bought for less which would have given a bigger performance gain? Prick

  6. reecemcf says:

@urbex2007 Listen smart arse. Firstly, I may have been relatively young when I owned this car but I certainly wasn’t foolish. I couldn’t give a shit how many holes the K&N airfilter had you fucking prick. My means for measurement were based on whether I felt an imporvement or not. And with the modifications listed, I spent under £100. So “spend lots of money”, I think not.

  7. urbex2007 says:

@reecemcf Removing a CAT will cool the exhaust system down and cold gases flow out slower than hot. Each part of a car has more than one function and by you removing bits you SLOW it down by your ignorance. I suggest you go and learn the basics of engines, then about filtration, gasflow and move on to a more advanced level. You will soon find NOISE means restriction and NOT power. All the bits you bought are designed for your “type”, the boyracer, young, foolish & ready to spend lots of money.

  8. urbex2007 says:

@reecemcf The K&N panel has a surface area 13 times smaller than the original paper element. So the holes have to be 13times bigger to pass the same amount of air as a paper filter. This means the K&N allows big bits of dirt and dust through to sandblast the engine. You claim it has better air flow, how have you measured that? You are a victim of sales teams as they know you don’t know anything about gasflow or engines. Taking off a CAT lowers the temp and slows the exhaust gases down.

It’s doing it again, luring me in with it’s speed, looks and handling, and the fact that a cracker can be picked up for 1700 quid, but i know as soon as I buy one it’ll be a world of oil, pain and idling problems

  11. rinofs says:

    6.809 sec not bad anyway

  12. antonyr123 says:

    i need a gti box

  13. EasyMovieStudios says:

Can’t wait to get my lisence and get mine on the road. got a new exhaust and backbox 2day (same as a subaru wrx) plenty of sound from it.

My Dads subaru goes 0-60 in 4 seconds but it takes alot of money to run the car XD. we are selling it now, my dad want a 106 rallye ¬¬.

  15. Zlyzer says:

The 106 is out of production now, we also have all of those cars you mentioned.

Just bought a w reg gti, cant wait to give it a blast xD, good vid aswel

  17. reecemcf says:

It had a large diameter cold air feed from grill close to the floor that i sealed to the standard air filter box. Inside the filter box was a KnN panel airfilter (same shape and fit as standard airfiler but much better airflow) then fitted a decat pipe on the standard exhaust system to increase airflow without making a racket!

    in the us tehy ave. 406′s, 306′s, 206′s 307, 207 507, 405…..but not 106 or the 105.

  21. wawonas says:

maybe so? There isn’t any Peugeot 106 in the US, but There is a older model Peugeot that was in the US for a short time and they’re very rare. I haven’t seen one in a really long time. It’s a 4 door sedan with a weird grille. Peugeot isn’t popular in the US, it seems. I have a 2000 Honda Civic EX coupe and you can check the video of the acceleration from 40 to 70 mph because I couldn’t find a straight line to safely accelerate from 0 to 60 mph near my home.

  22. reecemcf says:

Its about 5.6 secs to 50mph… maybe thats what you did first time round. Do you see many or any Peugeot 106 GTi’s in the US?

  23. wawonas says:

I just had to time it again and it was 6.7 seconds. I realized that the speedometer has a bit of delay when you accelerate brisky. It happens with my car also. When the camera starts shaking, that’s when I timed it.

  24. wawonas says:

I used some kind of stop watch application, I’m not sure if it’s really accurate. I might be a little off with reaction time, also.

  25. reecemcf says:

What did you use to time it…? I wish it was 5.6sec, i think it more like 6.8 – 7 seconds
