Question by Joiner_Mike: ABS warning light stays on Peugeot 206 Gti?
Hi all.
I have a Y plate Peugeot 206 Gti. I checked my brakes and they looked like they needed replacing. So yesterday i replaced all 4 discs and fitted new pads. Break fluid is fine. Will it need resetting at the peugeot garage? How can i check the sensors? can the sensor cogs be cleaned with a wire brush? Grateful for any advise.
Cheers for the idea of resetting the BSI unit. Still no luck :+( took it for a short drive as well afterwards but it still stays on. Was hard to see if sensors are working, wires were still connected, but wheel with vents looked a bit rusty looking that why i thought maybe clean with a wire brush. Is there anything i can do which will check the sensors 1 at a time?

i run the same..ide leave the ”cog” alone, the fault on them normally lies with the sensor itself.check for any rust stuck on it,check all connections…it shouldn’t need resetting but search online for ”206 gti BSI unit reset” and give that a go ….

Question by Joiner_Mike: Handbrake light comes on (peugeot 206 gti)?
When i first start to drive the light is off…..after a while the computer does the system check and puts the handbrake light on. Not swtich as goes off and tested by taking out and using wire. Not brake fluid or sensor in it did same test with wire. No sensors on brakes any idea’s?

Could be an ABS fault but thats usually the orange ABS light. Are you absolutely sure theres no sensors on the pads? The fact its the red brake light means its a serious fault.
If the car has brake sensors but has had pads without sensor wires fitted then the wires will be tucked away somewhere, one of them could be earthing out. Good luck with this
Hope this helps a little

Bit of a guess as I replaced mine on a Picasso. Run it up on ramps and look around it. There has got to be wires running to it and probably a retaining screw which screws in at 90 degrees to the unit. That’s how Picasso’s are retained.

Question by jimmy G: can any1 shine a light for me i race a 205 gti pug i need a gearbox with a tall 1st and 2nd always on limiter?
Best answer:
Answer by george d
It may be easier to change the wheels ( bigger circumference ) & final drive ratio ( Diff ) than source another gearbox. Have a look through the various gearboxes fitted to the other 2 litre pugs further up the range – 306, 406 etc low ratios fitted may be ‘taller’. It is a catch 22 situation, If you fit a higher ratio your initial take off will be slightly slower but you will gain further up the revs

Question by creak165: i am looking for the brake light switch on a peugeot 206 gti 2000 model on a v?
its not in the usual place where you would expect to find it on the pedal bracket can anyone halp me please
Best answer:
Answer by chris r
try looking in the passenger footwell
having a guess that your brake lights are staying on
the switch sits in a white plastic ring which wears and allows the switch to move away from the pedal bar
hope this helps

tape player
Best answer:
Answer by mo3_lys
its probably a connection within your tape player, you need to take this whole player out and have a look at the connections, if your not confident in doing this then take it to an electrition, fairly easy to do and not expensive at all

Question by J: Peugeot 206 GTI year 2000, hazard light is flashing very fast when the car is locked?
I have just noticed the Hazard light is flashing very fast when i have parked the car and set the alarm without setting the dead locks, I know the hazard light flashes when the alarm is set but it is flashing with any gaps as per norm. any ideas?
The hazard button on a peugeot 206 gti is also the alarm light and is mounted on the dash. I have checked the indicators and they are working.

normally if a indicator light is flashing faster than usual it is due to a bulb out that is in the same circuit so check all the indacators.
